Transferring Investment Funds and Pension Plans from Other Institutions: Now Easier and Safer

At inbestMe, we always aim to make investing simple, transparent, and hassle-free. That’s why, some time ago, we launched our “Easy Transfer” service for investment funds and pension plans, which allows you to quickly obtain information about your funds and plans at other institutions, connecting directly from our platform to your original bank to facilitate the transfer of positions to inbestMe.

After a few months of technical downtime, we are pleased to announce that the service is now back online.

Now, the automatic extraction of your investment funds and pension plans data from other institutions is even faster and more robust, making the transfer process smoother than ever.

Reminder: investment funds and pension plans from other institutions can be transferred at no cost

In Spain, most investment funds (around 80%) and all pension plans can be transferred between institutions without fees or tax implications (for individuals with tax residency in Spain).
It’s a regulated process that, in theory, should be straightforward, although it isn’t always: some institutions create obstacles by hiding key information (such as the ISIN of investment funds or the DGSFP number of a pension plan), making transfers more difficult.

Also, it’s worth noting that this transfer can be done without notifying your current institution in advance, although some still pressure clients with calls and threats of losing certain services.

Many years ago, we implemented a manual transfer process at inbestMe, requiring the submission of data that was often hard to find, such as the ISIN code for funds or the DGSFP number for pension plans. This complicated a process that should have been simple.

In January 2023, we launched the “Easy Transfer of Investment Funds or Pension Plans”, which allowed automatic extraction of the necessary information.

With the new implementation launched on September 1, 2025, we have improved the process, minimizing friction: you can now initiate the transfer directly from our platform, without notifying your institution in advance and without having to navigate all your accounts to retrieve the relevant information.

Automatic Extraction of Your Investment Fund or Pension Plan Data

The new implementation allows automatic extraction of data from investment funds or pension plans you may have at most financial institutions in Spain.

Currently, 24 financial institutions are connected, covering 95% of the Spanish market according to the following list:

• Improved support: if an error occurs during connection or extraction, the Vumi team will resolve it within 48 working hours.

The part we cannot improve is the execution speed of transfers, which remains slow and may take 1–2 weeks. This is because the institutional infrastructure that enables transfers is still fully manual.

Some institutions further delay the process with blocking tactics or client calls.
In any case, our operations team monitors these transfers, and if any issues or additional information is needed, they will contact the user.
